Calming Tea

This delicious tea is calming and restorative for the gut and is made from 3 ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen right now. Perfect as an after-dinner drink.

Ingredients to make one cup:

  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds

  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds

  • 3 slices fresh ginger

  • 8 oz. filtered water

Bring the water to a boil, then allow it to cool for a few minutes. Pouring super-hot water over these delicate ingredients could damage their volatile oils which hold lots of benefits.

Place seeds and ginger in a teapot. Option: to crush seeds lightly in mortar & pestle.

Pour the water over your ingredients and allow to seep for about 10 minutes. Feel free to add a bit of honey or lemon to taste, but try it first. You may enjoy it’s sweet & earthy flavor just as is!

Strain. Sip slowly & enjoy!

Carminative herbs are known to promote optimal digestive health. The term "carminative" is derived from the Latin word "carminare," which means "to expel wind." Carminative herbs are believed to work by relaxing the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, reducing spasms and facilitating the passage of gas through the digestive system. Additionally, some carminative herbs may have mild anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that contribute to their digestive benefits such as bloating & indigestion.
