Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a specialized discipline of clinical sciences that combines modern medical diagnostic tools with evidence-based and time-proven holistic treatments. With a strong focus on prevention, treatment, and overall well-being, this approach relies on therapeutic modalities that enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself. Naturopathic medicine acknowledges the connection of all bodily systems and seeks to address the underlying causes of illness, rather than merely alleviating symptoms. By combining the latest medical research with traditional healing methods, naturopathic medicine strives to provide comprehensive and personalized care.

Naturopathic medicine modalities:

Clinical Nutrition

By recognizing the profound impact that food has on our overall health, naturopathic medicine emphasizes the importance of nutrition as a foundational pillar of healing. The belief is that when we provide our bodies with the right nutrients, in the right amounts, we can support its innate ability to heal and thrive. This is a tailored approach as each individual is unique, with distinct nutritional needs and biochemical makeup.

Lifestyle Counseling

Lifestyle counseling involves the use of evidence-based techniques to address various aspects of an individual's well-being, including nature cure, nutrition, physical activity, stress management, adequate sleep, acupressure, hydrotherapy, behavioral habits, social support, and mental health. The decisions we make regarding our health are heavily influenced by our thoughts, attitudes, and perceptions. These factors play a crucial role in shaping our overall well-being, even when we may not consciously realize it.

Botanical Medicine

Botanical medicine, or phytotherapy, involves the use of plant-based remedies to promote healing and restore balance in the body. Historically, botanicals served as the pioneering drugs to address diverse health concerns in both humans and animals. Each plant has its own unique medicinal properties to target specific organ systems. Various methods are available, including alcohol or aqueous-based tinctures, herbal teas, powdered capsules, and tablets.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a medical system founded by Dr. Samuel Hahneman in the 18th century, that is rooted in the principle of "like cures like”, meaning any symptoms caused by a particular substance can be alleviated using the same substance. The goal of homeopathic treatment is to stimulate the body's vital force, enhancing its ability to heal itself. Research suggests that homeopathic remedies may have a regulatory effect on the body's biochemical processes, helping to restore equilibrium and alleviate a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

Mind-Body Medicine

Mind-body medicine recognizes the significant impact that mental and emotional factors can have on overall health. It acknowledges that stress, negative emotions, and traumatic experiences can manifest as physical ailments and adversely affect the body's functioning. Mind-body medicine empowers individuals to take control of their health, enhance self-care, and improve their overall quality of life. Techniques such as meditation, mantras, mindfulness, journaling, guided imagery, EFT tapping, ACUGem, and spirituality can be utilized.

Flower Essences

Flower essences are natural remedies derived from the energetic imprint of flowers. These essences are created using a specific methodology that harnesses the vibrational qualities of flowers to promote holistic well-being and emotional balance. While Bach flower essences are more commonly known, I use Green Hope Farm flower essences. Flowers are preserved in a decoction of Red Shiso, a member of the mint family, and do not use any alcohol in their preservation. Flower essences are gentle, effective support to address various emotional and energetic imbalances that may arise in our lives.
